LEU Connections Policy
What will data centres actually need to connect to the Irish grid?
Ireland's new connection policy for large energy users came into force in December 2025. Every data centre applying for a grid connection of 10 MVA or more must now bring its own dispatchable generation and commit to sourcing 80% of its power from new renewables. Use this calculator to see what that means for your project — in MW, MWh, and GWh of (CCGT) generation and/or storage (BESS).
The CRU decision (CRU/2025236) ends a four-year de facto moratorium on new data centre connections. System Operators must publish their engagement and connection process by 31 March 2026 — this calculator is based on the framework set out in the final decision.
